The penultimate beef dip

Maybe it's the cool and wintry evening, maybe my body is craving the iron, or maybe it's just due to being back in cattle country -- whatever the reason, tonight I needed to eat beef. B has been tempting me lately with his ultimate beef dip posts so I decided to try that.

Beef dip

For the most part I followed his recipe, but instead of using garlic/herb butter on the baguette I added some crushed garlic to the horseradish/mayo mixture (deadly). I also used mixed greens instead of watercress. As for the au jus, as per B's tip I just used a commercial brand that I jazzed up with a shot of dry port. And it was all served up with a big handful of homemade skinny fries.

It turned out quite good, but I'm pretty sure that B's would be better. (Hence the title ;-)
