Although I've obviously eaten lots since my previous post there hasn't been much worth blogging about. Until the last couple of meals, both of which were in local seafood places in the old part of Santiago.
In one I had the most amazing steamed mussels -- unbelievably fresh and so simply prepared. I also ordered a shrimp dish that came sizzling in an inch of olive oil -- not quite what I expected, but this is part of the fun when ordering dishes in a foreign language :-).
And last night I had a very simple fish soup that came in a deep golden broth -- no idea what the broth was made from, but it was pretty tasty. I also had an amazing main course of five different kinds of broiled fish and a langostino served on potatoes (with the typical Galician olive oil and paprika mixture drizzled over the potatoes). The fish was cooked to perfection. Again, I had no idea what I was ordering but this time it turned out really well.
